Reader, are you ready for the summer slump? If you are a service provider, you know that the inevitable lag is coming your way SOON! π We find that the summer months lead toβ¦ π vacations and traveling - keeping you away from your computer π kids home from school - keeping you distracted and off your usual routine π rest and relaxation - keeping you unplugged Sound familiar? These aren't at all bad, in fact, I celebrate you taking this time and I have also scheduled a lot of time away from my desk. I live in Massachusetts, I have to soak up the good weather while I can! I do want to take a moment here to point out one thing - your business has to keep running. You may have heard the expression, "summer bodies are made in winter." First of all, ew. I hate that. Body-shaming is never welcome in my world. I only mention it because it's something many of us have heard, and the idea of timing is what I want to leave you with today. Let's say that right after Labor Day, when we all settle back into our more regular routines, you want to start your next round of the membership that you offer. Now let's work backwards and list what needs to be done before the Zoom room opens for your first group call: β butts have to be in seats - if you want 10 people in your group, they need to be fully registered before that call β those people have to pay you - setting up your checkout cart is a must β they need to know what they're getting - you have to design a sales page that appeals to every type of buyer and encourage them to sign up β the deliverables need to be prepared - if you're giving them any recordings, PDFs, etc then those need to be created and uploaded to how you'll deliver them (ex: a portal like Kajabi, Teachable, Thinkific, etc) Did you notice what I left out? Marketing. They can't sign up if they don't know about it! An offer without marketing is like winking at someone in the dark. We advise a MINIMUM of 2 weeks before doors open to market anything you're selling, and honestly, 4-8 weeks and even longer is way better. All of the above is just the tip of the iceberg for the preparation of a membership. We can handle all of them for you. Not running a membership? The same applies for a course, and many of these items apply to other services and even products. I don't say this to scare you, because again, I am also taking off a lot of well-deserved time this summer. I just know that I will feel ultimately relaxed and unconcerned while I'm in Cancun with my husband for a week in June, camping in western NY in July, and in an Airbnb on one of the Great Lakes in August. That's because I'm leaving my business with streamlined standard operating procedures and in the incredibly skilled hands of my team of virtual assistants. After Labor Day, once my soon-to-be second-grader is back behind a school desk, I'll resume normal hours and the transition won't be that painful. Can you say you will feel the same? If not, let's chat. |

I have to apologize, truly. Amber at The Boutique Lawyer is running a Spring Contract Sale and everything in her template shop is 50% off. It closes tomorrow night (March 24). I'm an affiliate, so I get a small commission if you buy through my link, and I'm telling you about it with one day left. That's on me. But here's why it was on my mind and why you're getting an email on Monday when I (usually) send them on Wednesdays. I bought a contract template from Amber YEARS ago and while I have...
Hi, Reader!Last week I told you about the client whose email list had been quietly broken for three years. Opt-in forms pointing to the wrong list. A welcome sequence that had never triggered. Subscribers who downloaded her freebie and never heard from her again. I promised more this week. Here it is: The problem with most email marketing advice is that it assumes your system is working. It tells you how to write better subject lines, how to grow your list faster, how to improve your open...
Hi, Reader!A few years ago I had a client come to me who had been in business for three years. She had a lead magnet. She had a landing page. She even had a welcome sequence set up, or so she thought. When we got into the back end of her email platform together, we found opt-in forms pointing to the wrong list. A welcome sequence that had never actually triggered. And subscribers sitting in limbo who had never received a single email after downloading her freebie. Three years of collecting...
